Ugly Storage

I mentioned that MyNextDeal.com has an interesting blog.  I was taking a peek and found this interesting post about an ugliest building contest put on by Curbed LA. 

It turns out two of the finalists were (not surprisingly) self storage buildings.  One is an ugly Public Storage.  The other is an A-American Storage.  It's true, these are scary-ugly.  For more laughs, scroll down below the pictures to see the comments. 

Maybe that's why the returns in self storage are so healthy.  It's hard to believe something so ugly could be so profitable.  Also, no one is going to brag about their "trophy" self storage property. 

Wired Magazine Highlights Real Estate Innovation

I'm not involved in any condo projects.  But I'm not really talking about condo projects here anyway.

I'm just pointing out an interesting article I read in Wired magazine, the last place I though I would read about innovation in real estate.  It features the innovative design of a condo project proposed for Chicago with south-facing windows tilted at 71 degrees.  Keeps the hot sun out in the summer, lets the warm sun in in the winter.   

I read Wired because its interesting and keeps me up to date on technology.  I guess you never know where you are going to find a nugget.
